White Bear Standing Reconciliation Gardens

Sherry Crawford, known as White Bear Standing, is a renowned Algonquin artist and owner of The White Bear Standing Gallery & Cultural Experience.

Sherry’s artistic vision extends beyond the canvas to create living art installations that incorporate her images and stories into unique edible and medicinal land acknowledgement gardens.

We tailor our reconciliation garden designs and plants to create an abundance of indigenous medicinals and wild edibles in conjunction with organic heirloom varieties. It is our intention to create biodiverse landscapes that feed both ourselves, our communities and ecosystems. Each garden is custom designed and plant materials are chosen for specific project and clients desired outcome.

By introducing European varieties in harmony with indigenous plants we create ecosystems that have abundance of food from early spring through winter. This allows the proliferation of local wildlife, pollinators and bird activity that creates the backdrop for these amazingly beautiful and productive works of art.

It is the hope of these garden to promote ecological balance, abundance and reconciliation in the natural world that we as Canadians can recreate in our personal lives and relationships with both nature and our indigenous friends and families.
